Whether you recruit 10 or 1000 people a year, effective talent Management solutions are essential for improving the recruitment and retention in your business.

One key tool that plays an important part in managing your talent is an Applicant Tracking System. Without one, you could be overlooking a simple but effective way to improve the attraction of talent to your organisation, reduce your recruitment costs and allow you to record results for the continuous improvement of your recruitment processes.

Due to its availability, ease of use and low cost, an ATS now has a broad appeal and can be implemented into almost every business that recruits, no matter its size.

There has been a sudden increase in interest and demand from hiring companies over the last 6 months and to help you gain a greater understanding of what Applicant Tracking Systems are and how they can help you develop effective Talent Management Systems for your organisation,  we have compiled a list of answers to questions we are always getting asked. So click below to get your Free Copy of The ATS Guide

5 Top Tips to Help Employers in a Redundancy Situation

    HR Services 1 Comment

In a recent report, insurance company Liverpool Victoria, highlighted a sharp rise of 21% in calls to its legal helpline in the first quarter of 2009, of which an increasingly large percentage of these were relating to employment law and specifically redundancy issues.  Upon further analysis LV= found of the redundancies programs being rolled out, one in three were illegal.

These new findings highlight a clear need for employers to tighten up on procedures and knowledge.  Not only to treat their existing employees fairly but to protect their business.  With the tribunals seeing a marked increase in frivolous claims, employers can not afford to put themselves at risk.

It has also been noted recently that pregnant workers are being targeted in redundancy programs and are successfully bringing claims to employment tribunal.  A point to note, is that caution should be exercised as there is no qualifying period for claims on the ground of discrimination.

So, what can employers do should they find themselves considering a redundancy situation?

    1. If you are unaware of the correct procedure and legislation: - ASK!  It is much better to get help up front

    2. Consult with Employees: - They could help in finding alternatives to redundancy and failure to consult could lead to the whole process being unfair in the eyes of the law.  A recent court ruling ordered a Leeds Company to pay 90 days consultation to all redundant employees (approx 180 people) for failing to consult.

    3. Should the redundancies go ahead then have a clear procedures that is applied to all staff

    4. Look at the extra things you can do to give support: - CV workshops, debt management advise, resource rooms, these are very cheep to organise and not only assist your redundant employees but gives you added control over the procedure and can help with morale.

    5. Finally, think of your remaining talent.  Times like this obviously effect morale but also you require to get more from your remaining workforce to take your business forward and come out the other end.

Weekly Online Recruitment Digest 26th June 2009

Labour Market, News Links, Online Recruitment No Comments

We are certainly rolling into headlong into summer, the longest day is behind us and employers are continuing to challenge their recruitment processes.  There have been some very interesting posts this week on the web about the future of recruitment:

Firstly, for some thought provoking predictions, check out Lou Alder on ere.net.  Are we only 12 months away from seeing the demise of job boards and changing to a more SEO / CRM talent hub sourcing model?  Are these predictions too far fetched on a 12 month timeline?  We are certainly in a period of change, but how long will it take before recruitment processes & attitudes catch up with technology and define the norm?

According to Monster.com, the recession is forcing nearly three quarters of SME’s to recruit at lower levels with only one fifth planning to hire as normal.  Read the full article by OnRec here

The Recruiter reports that the Recruitment Industry is shrinking…

Green Shoots? Check out Bill Boorman on Monday at 12.00 noon (UK time) on http://www.blogtalkradio.com he plans to discuss what recruiters should be doing to plan for the economic recovery.

The survival of the recruitment agency:  Read Peter Gold’s article on Personnel Today  .. which dinosaur are you?

Jackson twitterers pull sickies, but is anyone else wondering about what is going to happen to Bubbles or his kids?

Finally, dont forget to have your say on our poll as to why employers are reviewing their recruitment processes.
