Interestingly in this economic climate senior executives are still more concerned about Recruitment and Retention than with staff morale and productivity.
A survey conducted with 150 Senior executives from the nations 1,000 largest companies on 15th September - 15th October by Robert Half, produced results that would probably surprise you…..
When asked about their greatest staffing concern, nearly four out of 10 (39 percent) senior executives interviewed cited employee retention, while 22 percent said recruitment. Productivity and employee morale were each named by 17 percent of respondents.

The Monster Employment Index states that there has been a sharp decline in Online Recruitment for November 2008 and is a reverse effect from the moderate growth seen in October 2008.
The index has decreased to 152 points in November, this is a decrease by 9 points from October 2008 and is 17 points down on November 2007 (10%). According to the Monster Index, this is a 19 month low.
The main areas to be effected are the entertainment, arts, sports leisure and legal sectors. However, demand is down in most areas except health care, telecoms and education.
Only Northern Ireland saw growth in online vacancies whilst the South West saw the largest dip.
This slowdown is largely expected given the recent economic downturn and the increasing unemployment figures. Companies who are hiring are still looking to the Internet as the most cost effective method to attract applicants, however it still highlights the decreasing number of jobs available in the UK. What do you think?
