SimplyHired.co.uk have just sent me their Press Release for today’s launch which gives them the first personalised job search experience by integrating with facebook. This means that job seekers can now utilise their facebook profile and friends on SimplyHired.co.uk to accessed customised job content.
I haven’t tried it yet, but apparently if you login with facebook you will be able to discover jobs based on your current or previous work titles, location, interests and your friends companies. From the search results page you will also be able to browse friends’ companies who have job openings too - How clever is that?
In a recent poll on SimplyHired.co.uk it was established that 43% of respondents devote at least half the time they spend searching for a job on social media sites. The doors are truly open now for passive candidates, but is this the next generation of job search?
A few screen shots just sent through:

Hi Lis, a really interesting advance, which I’m sure will be a valuable tool for job seekers and importantly for recruiters looking to access those passive seekers. Does make me worry about staff retention though - employers will have to work even harder to retain key people if their competition have another route to entice them away! Reinforces the notion of the importance of social media for recruitment and employment in general. Does make me wonder though if there already is / how long before there will be a tool to help employers easily find and look at candidate facebook and other social media profiles, linked to applications (obviously privacy setting play a part)… what are your thoughts?

Thanks for your response & I think you have a very valid point Joanne. As applications & mobile technology continue to play a vital part in accessing and using the internet, it is only going to get more advanced and simpler to access, screen, recruit, engage and measure.
I think there is also much more that can be done with social media to engage with existing staff and in maintaining their potential talent pool too. In addition to the big 3, there are some great platforms around to build communities for both internal and external talent. By adopting a whole social recruitment and engagement strategy it could certainly help employers retain their employees.
